About Kim Vidoni, Ph.D., LMFT

I went back to school (again) to become a therapist.

After completing my Ph.D. in Counseling and Educational Psychology, I spent nearly two decades in the public sector, working in education for the State of Nevada.  While I found fulfillment in affecting large-scale change, I felt a deep yearning to work directly with individuals as a therapist.  This led me to return to school and earn a master's in Marriage and Family Therapy, fulfilling my dream of becoming a psychotherapist.  My unique background in education and the public sector has given me a deep empathy for those working in those spheres and a personal understanding of the challenges they face.

So, what happened next?

After I earned my master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy, I worked in several mental health settings, including assisted living facilities, a mental health inpatient/outpatient hospital, a rural mental health agency, and private practice. These experiences gave me a well-rounded understanding of the challenges facing people from many walks of life.

I am a licensed MFT in Nevada, offering telehealth to all adults in Nevada.

As a licensed MFT in Nevada, I am committed to providing the highest quality of therapeutic services to individuals facing chronic health challenges, medical trauma, and life transitions. My qualifications and experience reflect my commitment to both my profession and the individuals I work with.

I carry a small caseload so I have more energy to devote to you.

Maintaining a small caseload of 5-10 clients allows me to prioritize quality over quantity in our therapeutic relationship. This ensures that each session is focused, productive, and deeply impactful, fostering a personalized and supportive therapeutic environment. Limiting my caseload allows me to stay attuned to your progress, adjust our strategies as needed, and provide the highest level of care throughout our journey together.  To put it plainly, I am not a burnt-out, overworked therapist, so I can deliver the highest quality of care in my power.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in empathy, collaboration, and evidence-based practices tailored to meet your unique needs. I prioritize creating a safe and non-judgmental space where you can explore your challenges and goals openly. Utilizing techniques from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and brain-based therapies, I work with you to develop practical strategies for managing stress, enhancing resilience, and fostering personal growth. Together, we'll navigate your journey toward healing and empowerment, focusing on achieving meaningful and sustainable changes in your life.
